Resume: The article is the result of a philosophical and narratological interpretation, of the novel The Transmigration of Bodies (2013) by the writer Yuri Herrera. It is shown that the protagonist of the novel produces the meaning of a self-reflective subject in the middle of a plot of structural violence produced under the state of exception of the law. We analyze the rhetorical resources that are used to narrate the character's experiences, and we show that the centrality of the narration is directed to the possibility of the subject of bare life to produce a truth in relation to his body and with otherness, producing truthful saying, parrhesia, as a form of resistance in the midst of a context of overwhelming violence.
