Lo personal del cuidado y el autocuidado: prácticas de resistencia ética y política

This paper aims to reflect and analyze some aspects about the notions and discourses built around care and self-care, emphasizing the relevance of its political dimension, as a fundamental tool to understand inequality, and make distance with conceptions about care of an essentialist, welfare, or generalizing nature, that contribute to its depoliticization under assumptions that have historically naturalized such inequality.
This work attempts to emphasize the importance of self-care as a right that must be guaranteed through the provision of basic resources and, as a personal and collective practice of resistance facing a system that exploits women’s bodies to accomplish a multiplicity of tasks.
