The Epidictic genre in hispanic literature, notes for another historiography

A corpus of minor Greeks, a common requirement in Spain in the Golden Age, is extended here in its legibility to contemporary letters. A history of literature articulated from the epidictic genre allows us to read Cervantes and Gracián as practitioners of Hermogenes' ideas of style, as well as modern authors such as Herrera and Reissig, Borges or Lezama Lima. In this key, Castellanos Moya follows Menandro's advice for censure, Borges exercises a Hermogenian skill, Lezama Lima a splendid style and Herrera y Reissig affirms that Uruguayans are modest or horny.
